Continental Realty Corporation (CRC) has earned the national 2021 Top Workplaces USA Award, based on confidential feedback generated from a survey of team members administered by Energage, LLC, a Philadelphia-based research firm that specializes in organizational health and workplace improvement. CRC was named a “Top Workplace in Baltimore” in 2020 by The Baltimore Sun Media Group for the eighth consecutive year based on these same results, with CRC earning a number 10 ranking in the listing’s Midsize Employer category. Team members answered a 22-question survey covering topics such as direction of the company, engagement, my manager, my work, pay and benefits and engagement.
The 2021 honor is presented to companies with at least 150 team members that, after earning regional recognition as a Top Workplace, further distinguish themselves with a survey response rate exceeding 35%. CRC’s response rate was 55% and the company’s engagement score was 73%, which relates to the percentage of team members who are “either engaged or enthusiastically engaged with their work and the organization.”
A key CRC mission is to design and execute programs that emphasize an open and engaging work culture, empower team members, encourage involvement in meaningful engagements that make a difference in the communities where the company operates and promote team member health and wellbeing. CRC is also committed to encouraging diversity and inclusion in its workplace and supporting local philanthropic activities.
Last year, in direct response to the challenges faced by local restaurants and retailers during the early stages of the pandemic, CRC launched an Eat Local stimulus program that reimbursed team members up to $200 for purchases at area restaurants. In response to diversity and inclusion issues faced by our country, CRC formed its first Diversity and Inclusion committee, which was first tasked with finding local charities to support. Based on the committee’s research, the company donated funds to two local charities, Innovation Works and No Boundaries. The committee continues to work toward its goals to further diversity and inclusion at CRC and in the general industry. CRC also worked to achieve positive outcomes with its residents and tenants throughout the country who struggled to maintain their homes and businesses.
This marks the first time CRC has been honored with the Top Workplaces USA Award.
“We invest tremendous energy and resources to formulate and execute initiatives that foster a healthy and productive workplace, so it is extremely meaningful to be recognized for honors based entirely on anonymous team member feedback,” stated Crystal Frey, CRC’s Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Shared Services. “Universally, we recognize that loyal and talented team members are the secret to our enduring success. It is the reason why we work diligently to attract and retain top talent, while providing a stimulating work environment that empowers our team and offers opportunity for growth.”
