CBRE today announced that Bob Walters, the company’s longtime leader for the Greater Philadelphia region, will retire at the end of the year. Adam Mullen has been appointed to succeed Mr. Walters as Market Leader, effective January 1, 2019, with oversight for downtown and suburban Philadelphia, Delaware, southern New Jersey, the Lehigh Valley and Central Pennsylvania.

“Bob is one of our longest-tenured and most accomplished market leaders who has guided our Philadelphia area operations to increasingly greater success for more than three decades,” said Matt Van Buren, President, Northeast Division, CBRE. “We thank Bob for his terrific leadership across the decades and wish him the best as he transitions to the next phase of his life.”

“Adam is the perfect leader to build on the success we have achieved in Philadelphia and throughout the region,” Mr. Van Buren continued. “He is an outstanding leader who is highly regarded by both our clients and our people, understands our business and culture, and is highly committed to building on the accomplishments made under Bob’s leadership.”

Mr. Walters will remain available to CBRE in a consulting capacity after January 1, 2019.

Mr. Walters has directed CBRE’s Philadelphia area operations since 1984. He has earned several awards for leadership distinction, including the Chairman’s Excellence Award (twice), given to CBRE’s top market leader, and the Trammell Crow Master Builder Award, which recognizes entrepreneurial spirit, drive and vision. Mr. Walters joined CBRE, as an industrial sales and leasing specialist in 1979.

He is an active supporter of the William Penn Charter School, Northwestern, Virginia and Duke Universities. Mr. Walters is a past member of the Board of the Chestnut Hill Fathers Club, a founding member of Select Greater Philadelphia, and a current board member of the Central Philadelphia Development Council (CPDC).

Mr. Mullen has been CBRE’s Industrial & Logistics leader since 2016 and led the Occupier and Supply Chain practice for the Industrial & Logistics Group for two years before that. Most recently, Mr. Mullen spearheaded the launch of CBRE’s Omnichannel initiative, which leverages the company’s market-leading retail and industrial/logistics expertise to help clients seize the opportunities presented by e-commerce.

Prior to joining CBRE in 2014, Mr. Mullen spent almost 10 years in the supply chain consulting industry, building a strong track record in complex supply chain projects and fostering long-term client partnerships.

Mr. Mullen and his family will relocate to the Philadelphia region by the end of the year.
