The Delta Dental Community Care Foundation recently awarded Esperanza Health Center a $60,000 grant to help improve oral health in Philadelphia.

Esperanza Health Center is a Federally Qualified Health Center serving the medically underserved North Philadelphia community that includes the densely-populated neighborhoods of Upper Kensington, Hunting Park, Fairhill/St. Hugh, Harrowgate, Feltonville and Juniata Park. The grant will be used to purchase new dental equipment, offset the cost of dental care for patients, and support construction and renovations to its new Kensington & Allegheny Health and Wellness Center, which will be the new location of its dental clinic.

"We're delighted to collaborate with Esperanza Health Center in improving the oral health of underserved children and adults in Philadelphia," said Karen Robinson, vice president of corporate affairs for Delta Dental and executive director of the Delta Dental Community Care Foundation. "Our impact is only as strong as our partnerships, and we could not make a difference without the hard work and dedication of the organizations we support."

The grant is one of 54 given in Pennsylvania this year by the Delta Dental Community Care Foundation to help improve the oral health of disadvantaged children and adults by removing barriers to quality dental care. Since its inception in 2011, the Foundation has awarded more than $5.8 million in grants to organizations throughout Pennsylvania.
