Society of Financial Service Professionals Partners with American Cancer Society

NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Society of Financial Service Professionals (FSP) recently entered into a partnership with the American Cancer Society and its National Professional Advisor Network (NPAN). The objective is to bring together a community of multidisciplinary professionals and an exceptional arsenal of resources to build awareness of charitable planning opportunities for clients.

This FSP-American Cancer Society collaboration took center stage recently when American Cancer Society representatives joined FSP’s New York City Chapter for an educational webinar, “Making the Most of Your Client’s Philanthropy: Advanced Charitable Planning Techniques.” The webinar was hosted by Chapter President Michael Culver, CLTC, brokerage director for MassMutual in Tarrytown, and sponsored by the American Cancer Society.

Prior to the program, speaker LaToya Williams, senior manager of Primary Care Systems for the American Cancer Society and an 11-year breast cancer survivor, shared her personal story and how working together helps fund the American Cancer Society mission that saved her life. “I am living proof of that,” stated Williams. “The American Cancer Society provided funding that helped several researchers conduct foundational work that ultimately led to the development of Herceptin – the first targeted drug for the treatment of breast cancer to receive FDA approval.”

After the webinar, FSP attendees and American Cancer Society NPAN members and staff had the opportunity to network and learn about American Cancer Society programs, such as a New York City community event, Real Men Wear Pink, which gives men a leadership role in the fight to save lives from breast cancer.

According to Jennifer Cayetano, director, estate and gift planning, for the American Cancer Society in the New York City area, “The American Cancer Society is the only organization fighting cancer on all fronts. We invest in breakthrough research, provide rides to treatment, free lodging near hospitals, a 24/7 helpline, and so much more.”

Cayetano added, “Working with financial service professionals and their clients’ charitable planning helps make the American Cancer Society mission possible. When these professionals promote the benefit of planned giving with their clients, everyone wins. The clients receive information about charitable giving from a trusted source – the American Cancer Society – and the advisors satisfy their clients’ needs and enhance their business.”

Through NPAN, professional advisors are provided with complimentary charitable planning guides, latest news on tax and legislation affecting charitable giving, personal assistance from American Cancer Society’s nationwide team of estate and gift planning professionals, and educational opportunities in partnership with FSP.
