Reliance Standard plans to relocate from 2001 Market Street to 1700 Market Street as it optimizes space.

Reliance Standard Life Insurance Company (Reliance Standard) will take over 151,000 square feet of Class A office space in its newly announced headquarter relocation, from 2001 Market Street to 1700 Market Street in Philadelphia. Reliance Standard expects to move to its new office on Market Street by 4Q 2020. JLL managing directors Tom Weitzel and Pete Talman led the tenant representation for the insurance company in the move.

Reliance Standard has been in its current office space since 2000. The company will occupy five floors, adding approximately 10,000 square feet compared to its previous footprint. With smart design and space optimization, Reliance Standard will be able to house approximately 180 additional employees, enabling the flexibility to grow over the next 7-10 years.

Reliance Standard will also have the right to put its name at the top of the tower.

“Reliance Standard wanted their space to align with current workplace design and optimize its use, which can be difficult to do in place,” Weitzel said. “They didn’t need to go far, but now will have the ability to scale efficiently while remaining in a central location—and in a building that provides the amenities their employees are accustomed to.”
