McGregor’s First Boston Project To Utilize Its Permastep Stair System with Photoluminescent Nosing—Designed to illuminate key markings on steps to keep occupants safe while exiting a building in an emergency
McGregor Industries, a national steel manufacturer specializing in innovative stair systems for large residential, commercial and mixed-use buildings, announced today that it was selected by Commodore Builders to design, manufacture and install its Permastep Stairs System into the new 20 CityPoint building, located just outside of Boston. The building stands at 200,000 square feet with six-stories. The Permastep Stair System being utilized will use photoluminescent nosing, a safety feature that provides step edge visibility and illuminates key markings to keep occupants safe when exiting the building.
McGregor Industries was selected to participate in this high-end Boston project because of its technological innovations in stair manufacturing and industry reputation as one of the best sub-contractors in the business. The nearly 100-year old company is entirely vertically integrated – from detailing to manufacturing to installation – and utilizes TEKLA to model all stairs and railings. This approach provides the highest level of quality control, ensuring each component fits perfectly, avoiding manufacturing issues and costly delays. Throughout the process, contractors have direct access to the CEO & President, Bob McGregor, who is personally involved in each and every project to ensure a successful outcome, a unique differentiator the company offers.
