Eagles Autism Challenge Announces Pennoni Matching Gift Drive in Honor of World Autism Awareness Day and Autism Awareness Month

4/2/18

The special offer for cyclists will match every online donation, dollar for dollar, up to the fundraising minimum

The Eagles Autism Challenge presented by Lincoln Financial Group is proud to offer another matching gift to new and existing bike registrants thanks in part to the generosity of Chuck Pennoni, a lifelong Eagles fan, season ticket member and one of the city’s most accomplished civil engineers and business leaders. The Pennoni Matching Gift Drive appropriately launches on World Autism Awareness Day, April 2, and will celebrate the start of Autism Awareness Month.

Through this new promotion, a $25,000 donation will be extended to Eagles Autism Challenge bike riders where all online donations raised by participants will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to the fundraising minimum. For example, if a donor makes a $100 donation to a participant’s Eagles Autism Challenge fundraising page, the matching gift will donate a match of $100 to his or her account. The promotion will launch on Monday, April 2 at 12:00 PM ET and will end once the matching gift funds are exhausted.

“The leadership set forth in recent months by generous supporters of the Eagles Autism Challenge has overwhelmed us with excitement,” said Ryan Hammond, Eagles Autism Challenge Executive Director. “Chuck Pennoni is the latest example of a truly committed member of our Eagles family who has invested his time and resources into a cause that will benefit so many families.”

It is now the fourth matching gift that has been extended to Eagles Autism Challenge participants, with a grand total of $100,000 already being matched over the course of two months.

“It is my privilege to contribute to a cause that impacts not just our employees but also our community, particularly through a great organization that I have supported as a fan my entire adult life,” said Pennoni.

Pennoni is the Founder and Chairman of Pennoni Associates Inc. Headquartered in Philadelphia for 52 years, the multidisciplinary firm provides personalized service to clients in the construction, environmental and landscaping fields, among others.

The Eagles Autism Challenge, to be held on May 19th at Lincoln Financial Field, is an annual landmark cycling and 5K run/walk fundraising event dedicated to raising funds for innovative research and programs to help unlock the mystery of Autism Spectrum Disorder. The event features the Wawa Junior 15-Mile Ride, Wawa Shorti 30-Mile Ride and the Wawa Classic 50-Mile Ride, along with the family-friendly “five Below 5K Run/Walk.” All routes begin and end at Lincoln Financial Field, with the finish line taking place at the 50-yard line. One hundred percent of participant-raised funds will be directed to autism research and programs at three nationally recognized research institutions – Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Drexel University, and Thomas Jefferson University and Jefferson Health.

Autism is one of the fastest-growing developmental disorders in the country with one in 68 children affected and one in 42 boys, yet it has been historically underfunded, misunderstood and under-researched. The Eagles Autism Challenge is working to bring thought leaders in the field of autism together to collaborate on groundbreaking research that will have a transformational impact around the world.

Registration fees and any other costs or fees associated with the Eagles Autism Challenge are not subject to this promotion and will not be matched. For more information, please visit www.eaglesautismchallenge.org/challenge.
