Hoon Oh
Allen & Gerritsen (A&G) announced that Hoon Oh has joined its Philadelphia office as VP, Creative Director. Oh joins A&G from mcgarrybowen in New York City, where he helped lead the agency’s innovation group as Associate Director of Experience Design. Oh previously held experience design roles at Mullen and SapientNitro in Boston, as well as Crispin Porter + Bogusky in Boulder.
“My goal is to bring together the right context and timing, and use the right technology, so we can enhance consumer experiences that meet their behavior,” Oh said. “I’m passionate about building stuff that challenges perceptions and provides a different way of looking at things, but doing so in a simple, clear way that is easily understood. At A&G, what I want is to collaborate to create work that developers and designers alike, as well as the agency as a whole, can be proud of.”
A highlight from Oh’s portfolio that exemplifies his vision is a reinvented ping pong table dubbed “Swing Pong” built during his stint at Los Angeles’s Syyn Labs, which was covered by Popular Science and Gizmodo.
Oh’s addition to the A&G team represents a homecoming of sorts: he previously worked alongside Chief Creative Officer Jennifer Putnam and VP Experience Planning Timothy Parcell at SapientNitro.
“Hoon is that new and rare breed of creative who spans design in all its forms — visual, experience and innovation. His skillset is incredibly unique and exactly what we need to create the awe-inspiring work that will move the needle for our clients,” said Jennifer Putnam, Chief Creative Officer at A&G. “Hoon will help bridge the gap between graphic and true interface design, and between singular ideas and systematic thinking. He'll work to seek out and sell in the experiential work that’s so crucial to today’s marketing mix. And finally, he'll partner with engagement strategy to shape broader consumer-centric marketing ecosystems. In short, Hoon is a major catch and I’m so happy to be on the same team once again.”
“Jen, Tim and I have been talking for a few years now about working together again, and I’m really excited for this opportunity,” Oh continued. “I trust them, I know they’re incredibly smart and we have the same beliefs, so coming to A&G wasn’t a hard choice. I’m now in a position where I can truly think outside the box and encourage others to do the same, and I’m excited to partner with all the great designers, developers, business leaders and others we have at A&G to create amazing work.”
