Stephen Buckley has been appointed leader of the Northeast planning, environment and traffic practice at WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, a global engineering and professional services organization.

In his new position, Mr. Buckley will be responsible for managing staff, focusing on clients and growth, and increasing the firm’s future readiness in planning, environment and traffic in the Northeast. He will be based in Philadelphia.

With over 20 years of experience in transportation in the private and public sectors, Mr. Buckley’s work has included design, operations, maintenance, policy, planning, programming and funding. Most recently, heserved as the general manager for transportation services for the City of Toronto. Previously, he was the director of policy and planning for the deputy mayor for transportation and utilities, and deputy commissioner for transportation in Philadelphia. Prior to that, he served as planning manager for WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff’sPhiladelphia office.

Mr. Buckley earned master’s degrees in transportation and in city planning from the University of California - Berkeley and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Syracuse University. He has been an active member of the Transportation Research Board, the National Association of City Transportation Officials,ITS Canada and the Transport Association of Canada.
