The nurse and administrator brings extensive experience to new role

Nicole Martin, RN, BSN, CHPN, MBA, of Sicklerville, N.J., has joined Samaritan Healthcare & Hospice as director of quality and compliance for the Marlton-based not-for-profit organization.

In her new position, Martin oversees Samaritan’s policies and procedures, ensuring that all industry guidelines and regulatory requirements are met. She is also responsible for continuing education for Samaritan's staff, and for professional development opportunities for area healthcare providers, which are offered through the Samaritan Institute for Education and Research. Martin succeeds Samaritan’s vice president of quality and compliance, Barbara Sheppard, RN, BSN, who is retiring.

“Nicole brings a wealth of experience to Samaritan, plus an inspiring, can-do attitude,” says Mary Ann Boccolini, president and chief executive. “She is an ideal successor to Barbara Sheppard, who has done an outstanding job as head of quality and compliance for many years.”

Martin has worked in the hospice field for 17 years, including three years in corporate compliance. Prior to joining Samaritan, she was the corporate compliance officer for a national hospice company. She has also worked as a hospice clinical director, community and staff educator, and on-call nurse.

Martin graduated summa cum laude from the Helene Fuld School of Nursing, and received both a bachelor of science in nursing and an MBA from Western Governors University. A certified hospice and palliative nurse, she is a trainer for the End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing.
