The Joseph Fund of Camden’s Annual Hand Up Gala, scheduled for Saturday, October 29 from 6:30- 11:30 p.m. at The National Constitutional Center in Philadelphia, will honor Anthony Perno, President & CEO, Cooper’s Ferry Partnership with “The Msgr. Robert T. McDermott Philanthropy and Community Service Award.”
As the leader of Cooper’s Ferry Partnership, Perno spearheads the city-wide development strategy that leverages Camden’s cultural, natural and institutional anchors to create transformative change throughout the neighborhoods and downtown. Committed to the community he serves, Perno, of Merchantville, is a board member for St. Joseph’s Carpenter Society, a program supported by The Joseph Fund of Camden.
“Anthony was a natural choice for this award as his strong affiliation with our organization and the exemplary work he conducts at Cooper’s Ferry aligns with our mission of transforming lives in the City of Camden,” said Ed Hutchinson, Board President, The Joseph Fund.
The festive, black-tie-optional affair, which attracted more than 350 guests last year, will feature dinner and dancing, live music by the fabulous “Motor City Revue,” a silent auction, amazing live auction and more. Hand Up Gala event proceeds will benefit those in need who seek affordable housing, homelessness services and a quality education.
The Hand Up Gala is based on the philosophy that giving people a “hand up” instead of a “hand out” has a much more profound impact on their lives – it builds self-determination and raises aspirations so thatwith a “hand up” anyone can soar.
All proceeds from this event will continue to be invested in these programs which transform lives.”
The Joseph Fund is a nonprofit dedicated to supporting the missions of six Camden organizations that provide educational opportunities, permanent housing solutions for lower-income individuals and solutions to end homelessness for those willing to receive a hand up.
