William Shipley III, Who Led the Company since 1992, Will Assume the Role of Chairman of the Board

Planned Leadership Change Comes as Shipley Energy Continues to Expand Product Offerings and Enter New Markets

Shipley Energy announced today that Shipley executive Dave Gruno will formally take over as CEO of the company on July 1, 2016, finalizing the planned transition of leadership from William Shipley III, who will assume the position of Chairman.

As CEO, Mr. Gruno will lead the strategic direction of Shipley Energy with the goals of driving continued sales growth and product innovation while serving the constantly changing needs of energy consumers and continuing Shipley Energy’s strong track record of community involvement.

Since joining Shipley Energy in 2004, Mr. Gruno has taken on a variety of key leadership positions within the company, including operations, natural gas sales and marketing, transportation and logistics, human resources, environmental and safety. Most recently, he served as President of Shipley Stores, LLC.

Shipley Energy Poised for Extensive Growth

The leadership transition comes at an important time for Shipley Energy as the company expands its product offerings and geographic footprint. In addition to being a well-established provider of heating oil, Shipley Energy has taken aggressive strides to serve as a comprehensive energy resource for consumers. In response to deregulation, Shipley has become a significant competitor in electricity and natural gas markets throughout the mid-Atlantic region with the goal of entering these markets in all deregulated states across the U.S.

Shipley also looks to expand through strategic acquisitions and by developing new platforms for energy sales aimed at a new generation of consumers that are more accustomed to shopping and buying online. Smart Touch Energy (www.smarttouchenergy.com) is an online fuel oil retailer Shipley launched in 2015 that has attracted customers from Maine to Maryland who value the ability to purchase energy in a simple, secure and transparent manner online via a computer or mobile device.

In addition, Shipley Energy will drive further growth in their Home Services division that installs and services heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment and offers indoor air quality services.

William Shipley III Set to Take on New Roles

In his new role as Chairman, Mr. Shipley will lend strategic support on a limited basis to Shipley Energy, specifically related to acquisitions, major transactions or investments by the company.

While he will be stepping away from operations and management within the company, Mr. Shipley is set to remain a highly-engaged and supportive member of the community. He was recently appointed as the Governor’s Representative on the Penn State Board of Trustees and will also begin a full term as Chairman of the York College Board of Trustees on July 1. He will remain Chairman of the York Revolution Baseball Club in addition to being involved in numerous civic and philanthropic endeavors.
