DLA Piper announced today that John Grady has joined the firm as partner with the firm’s Finance practice in Philadelphia.

With 30 years of investment management experience, Grady counsels SEC-registered and unregistered investment funds, advisory firms, broker-dealers, and other financial institutions on a broad range of investment and regulatory matters. He has led and managed buyouts, turnarounds and restructurings, and has overseen securities offerings made by firms regulated by the SEC, CFTC, the various United States and FINRA. His experience extends to tax, ERISA and commodity trading issues facing such firms.

Grady has worked in private practice and in-house general counsel roles, most recently as Senior Vice President and Chief Regulatory Officer of Aratec Corporation (formerly known as RCS Capital Corporation), the holding company for Cetera Financial Group, one of the nation’s largest independent financial adviser network.

His leadership contributions to the industry include serving as president-elect and chair of the Alternative & Direct Investment Securities Association, as well as chairman of its Legislative & Regulatory Committee. He received his B.A., magna cum laude, from Colgate University and his J.D. from University of Pennsylvania Law School.
