Dennis Murray is the president of Murray Devine, a financial valuation advisory firm. EDWIN WARFIELD: What differentiates Murray Devine from other valuations firms?

DENNIS MURRAY: I think what is special about Murray Devine is our longevity. We’ve been in business for 25 years. We still have most of our core clients who we had 25 years ago. I think what’s unique about us is our offering of very experienced professionals to provide the service on a high-quality level on a very cost effective basis, and to deliver a quality product on a timely basis.

Our team really is a very diverse team. It comprises accountants, financial consulting people, and attorneys. It’s pretty diverse. But what we believe is that with the diverse backgrounds, you can train and develop, and people can grow and succeed.

Q. How do you hire for that team?

A. We hire based on analyst professionals and realizing that [new hires] want to get into the valuation field. We’ve experienced undergraduate students coming on and training them, and it’s such a niche field that we believe the ones who really succeed and grow are the ones who realize that this is a field that they really want to grow and develop their careers in.

Q. Does that play into Murray Devine’s culture?

A. The culture is you have two real old guys, but it’s really changed. We have a really solid group of young analysts who have some prior work experience, some really good skills, and who are really going to help Murray Devine grow in the future.
