Attorneys Christopher E. Ezold and Joseph Clement Interviewed on Cybersecurity and Data Privacy Regarding Key Concerns to Businesses

Chris and Joe discussed why businesses have to be concerned about data privacy, described major breaches that have occurred and their implications and spelled out what businesses must do to make a plan, assess security resources, educate employees and encrypt their data. Christopher E. Ezold has 25 years’ experience advising businesses and professionals on corporate matters, finance (startup, angel and private equity), equity and asset purchases, mergers and acquisitions, taxation of transactions, corporate and investor rights, technology issues, contracts, operational matters, employment issues, intellectual property rights and licensing and regulatory compliance. His practice also includes litigating commercial, business and employment matters in state and federal court and before federal and state agencies.

Acting as outside general counsel for his clients, Chris’s clients come from numerous industries including biotech/life sciences, commercial and consumer services, health care, technology and more. In the health care area, he is one of a few lawyers in the region to provide wrap-around legal services to health care practices, advising not only on business and employment matters, but on how to navigate the increasingly complex regulatory obligations they face, including HIPAA/HITECH, Stark and Anti-Kickback, upcoming MACRA regulations, “meaningful use” and reimbursement. A graduate of The George Washington University, Chris earned his law degree and LL.M. in Taxation from Villanova University School of Law. He is a Child Advocate with the Support Center for Child Advocates, and a member of the Pennsylvania and Montgomery Bar Associations. He has received an AV rating from Martindale Hubbell, which is the highest ranking for professional ability and ethical standards.

Joseph Clement concentrates his practice in the areas of Municipal Law, Real Estate, Zoning, and Land Development, Business, Corporate, and Tax, and Intellectual Property. Joe’s experience comprises:

  • Counseling municipalities and authorities in all aspects of their operations
  • Guiding public-private land development project partnerships
  • Assisting developers to navigate the nuances of local ordinances and zoning regulations
  • Counseling artists, inventors, and business owners regarding the protection, licensing, and assignment of their intellectual property
  • Preparing contracts for the sale and license of intellectual property
  • Advising clients regarding the fine line between “fair use” and infringement of intellectual property rights


Joe received both his law degree and his Master of Laws from Franklin Pierce Law School where he won the ABA/BNA Award for Excellence in the Study of Intellectual Property. While attending law school, Joe worked in the Office of the General Counsel for a leading manufacturer of commercial and military avionics and electro-optic systems and he clerked for a well-respected intellectual property boutique law firm. Joe received his undergraduate degree in biological science from the University of Vermont. Prior to joining Wisler Pearlstine, he worked for Merck & Co. Inc. for 7 years. Joe is a member of the Pennsylvania and Montgomery Bar Associations, and the American Intellectual Property Law Association.
