The Charny Karpousis Altieri & Donoian Partner Humanizes the Legal Profession with Peers’ Personal Stories

Charny Karpousis Altieri & Donoian, P.A. partner Rebecca A. Berger is the new host of RadioVision Network (RVNTV) Justice for All, a half hour series that covers the law from the eyes of South Jersey and Philadelphia professionals who practice it. The popular weekly program is a one-on-one discussion in which legal professionals and thought-leaders in the surrounding area discuss not only their career path, but also their niche practice area(s) and organic topics of the legal field which arise during the interview.

A practicing family law attorney and former prosecutor, Ms. Berger draws on her own experiences and challenges guests to discuss how their life choices and experiences have shaped their professional approach and client advocacy. The show which airs weekly on Thursdays and Fridays at 7:00 p.m. eastern time turns the spotlight on diverse legal matters and speaks to those who work in the field of law but also everyone who is impacted by it. Since re-launching the program in January 2020, Berger’s has welcomed attorneys from both sides of the courtroom with a deputy prosecutor and criminal defender. She also was proud to interview the first woman of color to serve as attorney-in-charge at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for New Jersey.

“I was nervous at first but as with other decisions in my life, I knew fear would hold me back,” said Ms. Berger, recalling her experience in overcoming others’ judgements and her drive to “push through” for herself and her daughter. “Once in the interview chair, the questions just began to flow and I quickly realized how human we all are ~ even attorneys. I want the audience to learn about the law, yes, but from a very human perspective.”

Rebecca A. Berger has been practicing law for thirteen years and represents clients in divorce, child custody, spousal and child support, property settlement agreements, prenuptial agreements, domestic violence and municipal court matters. Prior to joining the firm in May 2015, Ms. Berger worked as an Assistant Burlington County Prosecutor for seven years, handling a myriad of criminal cases on behalf of the State of New Jersey. During her four years in the Domestic Violence Unit of the Prosecutor's Office, Ms. Berger trained law enforcement officers in the investigation and prevention of domestic violence. She is a member of the state and local bar associations and is Co-Chair of the Burlington County Bar Association – Family Part Section. In November 2019, Ms. Berger was appointed to the New Jersey Supreme Court State Domestic Violence Working Group (SDVWG) ~ a group responsible for resolving the systemic issues facing the courts in the area of domestic violence. A former member of the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office Domestic Violence Unit, she has expertise in this area and advocates in such matters of abuse.

Admitted to practice law in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania, Ms. Berger is an Associate member of the Thomas S. Forkin Family Law Inns of Court and has also been an active volunteer with the Domestic Violence Project and State of New Jersey Mediator and Community Dispute Resolution Committee. In 2016, she was one of twenty-one Burlington County business and community leaders selected for the prestigious honor of being named. In recognition of her work, Ms. Berger has been named to South Jersey Magazine's "Awesome Attorneys," SJ Magazine's "Top Attorneys" and one of 2016's Emerging Leaders by the Burlington County Times and the Burlington County Regional Chamber of Commerce.
