Porzio, Bromberg & Newman P.C. expands its Wealth Preservation Group with the addition of Crystal West Edwards as Principal.

Ms. Edwards brings significant experience in the areas of elder and special needs law and estate, along with estate and gift tax planning to Porzio. Prior to joining Porzio, Ms. Edwards was a Partner at Schenck Price Smith & King, LLP. Ms. Edwards focuses her practice on elder law, special needs planning and advocacy, estate planning and estate administration. She is a Certified Elder Law Attorney by the ABA accredited National Elder Law Foundation.

Ms. Edwards counsels seniors, individuals with special needs and their families with issues pertaining to complex estate and tax planning, asset preservation, eligibility for means-tested government benefits, fiduciary appointments and representation and advocacy. She is also a trusted advisor to financial institutions and corporate fiduciaries with judicial and administrative accountings and counseling regarding initial or continued means-tested government benefits eligibility for its trust beneficiaries.

The addition of Ms. Edwards not only enhances Porzio's wealth preservation capabilities but also Porzio's ability to counsel families with special needs considerations. Ms. Edwards experience and background strengthens Porzio's capacity to help families of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities identify key areas where planning is needed and steps they can take to be prepared for the future.

Ms. Edwards received her B.A. from the University of North Carolina (Charlotte), cum laude, and J.D. from Pennsylvania State University's Dickinson School of Law. She has been recognized as "AV Preeminent" by Martindale Hubbell for legal ability and professional ethics, based upon a peer review of the Bar and the Judiciary. She is a past president and life member of the Garden State Bar Association, New Jersey's oldest and largest professional organization for African American judges, lawyers and law students. She is admitted in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
