International design firm leases 7,000 square feet at 110 Edison Place in Newark

JLL has completed a new transaction for Ware Malcomb at Ironside Newark, 110 Edison Place in Newark, N.J., with building owner Edison Properties LLC. The international design firm leased 7,000 square feet of space at the Class A, 450,000-square-foot mixed-use office and retail building.
The tenant was represented by Timothy Greiner, executive managing director and head of agency leasing for JLL in New Jersey, and Peter Ladas, senior vice president, both with JLL. Building owner Edison Properties was represented by Greiner, and by Harrison Russell, associate director, with Newmark Knight Frank.

Ware Malcomb inked a 7-plus year lease for 7,000 square feet of space and will occupy a portion of the third floor at 110 Edison Place, which is located at the intersection of Edison Place and McCarter Highway/Route 21 in Newark. The international design firm is relocating to Ironside Newark from 90 Center Drive in Woodbridge, N.J.

Ironside Newark, 110 Edison Place, was transformed by Edison Properties from a historic warehouse into a state-of-the art office and retail destination. It offers more than 375,000 square feet of office space 74,967 square feet of retail space, along with a public two-story atrium and seating area, and a rooftop patio for tenants that overlooks Northern New Jersey and Manhattan.

The property was constructed in 1907 to accommodate railroad freight storage, and was known as the Newark Warehouse Company Building. It was a six-story renaissance revival used by the Central Railroad of New Jersey and located on what was then known as Mechanic Street. Considered an operational marvel at the time, freight shipments were managed by a central telephone office in the warehouse, with train deliveries entering through the second floor to support the city’s elevated track network.
