Wisler Pearlstine, LLP is pleased to announce that partner Claudia L. Huot recently presented at Lehigh University’s 47th Annual Special Education Law Conference. The title of her presentation was “Collaboration Between Families and Schools: Are We on the Same Page?” Misunderstandings between families and schools regarding parental expectations for and district obligations to students with disabilities can lead to unnecessary conflicts and litigation. The session discussed ways that schools and families can communicate and collaborate to focus on FAPE (Free Appropriate Public Education). For example, what should both sides reasonably expect in the IEP’s section for specially designed instruction?
Claudia L. Huot advises clients in many aspects of school law including: representation in administrative proceedings, appeals and litigation in state and federal court, reviewing and drafting board policies, and advising clients on special education, discipline, and other student issues on a day-to-day basis. She regularly makes legal presentations to school district clients and at various school law seminars, prepares written materials and plans, and presents at seminars regarding school law matters. Ms. Huot also has extensive experience in general litigation, having tried cases to verdict in federal and state courts in Pennsylvania.A graduate of Delaware Law School of Widener University, Ms. Huot has a degree in History and French from the College of St. Catherine.
