Morais Law, a WBENC-certified, woman-owned law firm specializing in U.S. immigration and nationality law, welcomes its newest attorney Emily C. Brown, Esq., a skilled professional with experience in global labor standards and regulatory compliance. In her role as Junior Partner, she will counsel companies on immigration matters, including proper onboarding, I-9 compliance and hiring procedures. She will be available to guide clients through immigration-based audits, facilitate training programs and provide risk assessment analysis. Her expertise in global labor standards, supply chain complexities and sustainable procurement practices will complement the comprehensive services offered to Morais Law clients.
Ms. Brown joins Morais Law having most recently been an associate with a Toronto-based boutique immigration law firm with an office in Philadelphia, PA. In addition to providing legal counsel for corporate clients, she developed resources for the firm’s International Supply Chain Initiative to introduce a risk assessment framework that measures a company’s vulnerability to forced labor in the supply chain. Her career has included a legal clerkship with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) where she planned and implemented training programs for attorneys and special agents nationwide on federal human trafficking investigations. She was a case manager with the International Refugee Assistance Project, legal intern with the U.S. Army JAG Corps and volunteer sexual assault victim advocate with the Center For Family Services in Camden, NJ.
An active member in the legal industry, Ms. Brown has co-authored articles on corporate social responsibility for the American Bar Association and corporate supply chain/labor trafficking in the American University Law Review. She has also presented on matters of human trafficking and forced labor to Merrill Lynch in Mount Laurel, NJ and on RVN TV. Ms. Brown has been admitted as a licensed practicing attorney in the District of Columbia. She received both her Juris Doctor and Master of Arts in International Affairs from American University in Washington, DC. Her memberships include the National Association of Women Business Owners (South Jersey Chapter).
