Steve Reynolds Rejoins Gibbons as Director in its Commercial & Criminal Litigation Department

5/1/19

Steve Reynolds, a former Director at Gibbons P.C. who recently retired as Executive Vice President, General Counsel & Secretary of Aramark and previously served as Senior Vice President & General Counsel at Alcatel-Lucent, has rejoined the firm as a Director in its Commercial & Criminal Litigation Department. Mr. Reynolds is also a former Vice President, Litigation at Aventis and Sanofi-Aventis.

After serving as global general counsel at two Fortune 200 companies since 2005, Mr. Reynolds returns to Gibbons, where he had spent 16 years as a commercial and corporate litigator, with unique in-house background and experience developed over 18 years at major companies in the pharmaceutical, technology, and services industries, all key segments of the firm’s client base.

At Aramark, Mr. Reynolds navigated the company through a complex and highly successful IPO in 2013 and managed the legal and regulatory issues in two strategically important, billion-dollar acquisitions of Avendra and AmeriPride in 2018. While at Lucent, he managed the legal and regulatory issues relating to the company’s merger with Alcatel in 2006, which included obtaining approval from the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), and he negotiated the settlement of a major global Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) investigation involving Alcatel in 2010. Previously, Mr. Reynolds had steered Aventis through its resolution of price-fixing claims relating to the 1999 settlement between Rhone Poulenc, several major pharmaceutical companies, US authorities, and other impacted countries.

“While Steve was an exceptional practitioner during his first go-round here at Gibbons, his nearly two decades in-house have provided him with key industry experience and first-hand knowledge of corporate business environments – essentially, the ability to ‘think like a client,’” notes Patrick C. Dunican Jr., Chairman and Managing Director of Gibbons.

At Gibbons, Mr. Reynolds will utilize his background and experience as a public company general counsel to assist clients in dealing with their management of complex litigation, regulatory, corporate governance, and compliance matters. “I am excited to return to the firm where I developed skills that were so valuable to me during my in-house career, through guidance from incredible lawyers like John Gibbons, Mike Griffinger, and so many others,” says Mr. Reynolds. “And I look forward to working with the exceptional attorneys who consistently demonstrated the highest levels of quality and integrity while they were my outside counsel and I was their client.”
