Jeffrey L. Heller, Avison Young, Principal and Managing Director for Avison Young New Jersey, announced the firm recently participated in its fifth annual Day of Giving on Thursday, October25. Employees from both the Avison Young Morristown and Metropark offices volunteered at the Morristown Neighborhood House and Cornerstone Family Programs, a community charitable organization that provides resources to people of all walks of life in Morris County, New Jersey.

Cornerstone Family Programs aims to make a difference by educating children and youth, empowering teens, providing for families, offering veterans specialized support, and encouraging seniors and their caregivers. Together, Cornerstone Family Programs and Morristown Neighborhood House impact the lives of nearly 10,000 residents in the community with a shared mission of strengthening communities by helping people build better lives.

The Avison Young team volunteered their time at Cornerstone’s Morristown Neighborhood House, with several employees working with kids in preschool classrooms, while others painted and cleaned the exterior in addition to assembling and decorating healthy snack bags. Other Avison Young volunteers worked at the adult center where they did crafts and played bingo.

"The Day of Giving is a chance for Avison Young New Jersey to show support and gratitude to Morristown Neighborhood House and Cornerstone Family Programs, an exceptional group that has done so much for the Morris County Community for over a century,” Heller notes. “This is our fourth consecutive year working with them and it’s a gratifying feeling for the entire staff when we roll up our sleeves and take one day out of the year to help this worthy organization.”

“We’re once again very appreciative of the work Avison Young put in and we thank the entire staff for their time and effort on their annual Day of Giving,” said Jacquelyn Looby, Director of Volunteer Services, Cornerstone Family Programs & Morristown Neighborhood House. “Our objective as an organization is to provide opportunities that help our community every day and it’s wonderful to have the yearly support of a local business leader like Avison Young in helping us reach our goals.”

Each October, Avison Young’s global Day of Giving is held in all of the firm’s markets and is part of the company’s global citizenship strategy. Each Avison Young office chooses its own community volunteer project in consultation with the charity that will receive the assistance.
