Kdan Mobile Ltd (Kdan Mobile), a Taiwan-based Software as a Service (SaaS) provider, has recently partnered with Qihoo 360, a Chinese internet and mobile security provider. Kdan's PDF Reader application will come pre-installed with Qihoo's 360OS, an Android-based operating system, as a result of the new partnership. This will help Kdan reach more international users.
"Riding on the millions of downloads we have had worldwide, the collaboration opportunity marks our attempt to increase our footprint in the global market," says Wei-Chung Wang, vice-president of global marketing and strategy at Kdan Mobile. "Kdan's PDF Reader has helped countless business professionals work more efficiently, and partnering with Qihoo's 360OS will allow more to see how they could be better at handling their document needs." Kdan's original application, PDF Reader, is a document productivity solution that supports a wide range of document functions for business and individual needs. This strategic partnership will help Kdan reach millions of potential users. "We expect to get 10 million new users from this new pre-installation arrangement," explains Kenny Su, Kdan's founder and CEO.
Kdan's collaboration with Qihoo's operating system will help the two companies deliver a safer and more productive user experience. Qihoo's 360OS features a simplistic, power-saving hardware and software combination that makes smart devices more secure while remaining battery-efficient.
Partnering up with other organizations is part of an overall goal to increase Kdan's international presence. "We want to build a better ecosystem and get more exposure in the market," says Su.
Kdan announced $5 million in Series A financing in April, which has helped fuel their effort. Kdan's partnership with Qihoo 360 is their third pre-installation agreement. Kdan has already entered into similar agreements with hardware and operating system providers, Samsung and Nokia.
Kdan is also pursuing business relationships with companies that will improve their users' experience. "Our core value is providing our users with tools and services to create unique content, so everything will surround the idea of 'content,'" explains Su. "We also work with Adonit, who provides a stylus for users to have better experience creating content; and LKKER, the largest platform for creators in China, to give more users a chance to try our tools and services."
Kdan plans to continue looking for strategic collaboration opportunities.
