Philly Music Fest Announces 2018 Lineup

5/18/18

Philly Music Fest, the city's only music festival to feature exclusively local artists, will return for a second year September 27-30, 2018, with headliners The Districts, Waxahatchee, and Low Cut Connie.

This year, the nonprofit festival has expanded to four nights and three venues—Johnny Brenda’s, World Café Live and Milkboy, and will feature nearly two dozen Philadelphia-based artists representing a diversity of genres including rock, hip hop, bluegrass and jazz. The core of Philly Music Fest will again be located at World Café Live, which allows for performances on both of its two stages simultaneously and facilitates a unique indoor festival experience.

"After last year's success, we're excited to be able to expand this year's festival to two new independent music venues—Johnny Brenda's and Milkboy," said festival founder and curator Greg Seltzer. "The core of our mission is to assist and promote local musicians and donate proceeds to local music education charities. But we've expanded the scope of our mission to include active support for independent venues—they're the backbone of our city's thriving music scene."

Tickets are available for sale now at phlmusicfest.com, with early-bird pricing. Prices start at $15 for single-day tickets at Johnny Brenda’s and $20 for a single-day ticket at World Café Live, with a $40 two-day pass for the two shows at World Café Live. The expanded festival includes a punk rock lineup to kick off the festival on Thursday night at Johnny Brenda’s, then two nights at World Café Live featuring rock, hip hop, and bluegrass. Philly Music Fest will conclude with a jazz showcase on Sunday at Milkboy. The full lineup is below.

When not running Philly Music Fest, Mr. Seltzer is a corporate lawyer at Ballard Spahr, where he divides his time between M&A transactions and work with emerging companies and venture capital firms. Mr. Seltzer co-founded and leads the firm's widely recognized pro bono accelerator program for student startup companies: Ballard Academy for Student Entrepreneurs, or BASE.
