As the food industry continues to grow in New Jersey,Hollister Construction Services has emerged as a leader in the construction of a wide range of food-related facilities. During the past few years, Hollister has provided construction services for some of the largest and most important facilities in the state, and has played apivotal role in the growth of the food industry in the state and region.

In 2016, Hollister initiated one major New Jersey project and began the completion of another. In May, the company broke ground on Driscoll Foods, LLC’s new 507,000-square-foot distribution center headquarters in Wayne, N.J. The new site allows Driscoll Foods to increase its warehouse space and operations areas from 218,000 square feet to 507,000 square feet, and will allow the company to increase its employee count from 450 to 800 in the span of five years.
Meanwhile, Hollister will soon complete its work for phase one of AeroFarms, the world’s largest indoor vertical farm. The innovative 69,000-square-foot facility will produce up to two million pounds per year of leafy greens in an environmentally controlled, safe and sanitary facility. The facility will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and will feature processing, shipping and receiving, growing and cooling space, and laboratories.
In the New York region, Hollister just started the renovation of an existing warehouse for Citymeals on Wheels. The facility is being transformed into a 25,000 square feet distribution and office space in the Hunts Point neighborhood in the Bronx. It will feature a distribution line, storage areas, office space, an expansive boardroom and a kitchen and lounge space for warehouse.
In 2015, Hollister completed the second phase of its work on the Newark Farmers Market, which included a 127,000-square-foot freezer warehouse, which offers different large-capacity storage areas for use by Wakefern Food Corp. This also compliments Hollister’s phase-one work on the project, which includeda 180,000-square-foot, temperature-controlled distribution center that delivers produce to ShopRite stores throughout the northeast.
The Newark Farmers market followed several other Hollister food industry projects for Pinnacle Foods, Atalanta Corporation, D’Artagnan, Damascus Bakery and Tribeca Oven Inc.Hollister is also highly active in multiple channels of the food service industry, with clients ranging from McDonald’s franchises in Queens and Staten Island to restaurants for Joe’s Crab Shack and Saladworks. Hollister has also completed elegant high end restaurants, such as Jockey Hollow Bar & Kitchen in Morristown, NJ and Common Lot in Millburn, NJ.
Hollister works hand-in-hand with the client during the life of the project to ensure compliance with FDA regulations. During the pre-construction phase, we review initial designs and confirm they meet all FDA regulations and during construction we schedule facility inspections with the FDA in advance to the facility’s grand opening.
