Three Klasko Immigration Law Attorneys Participate at AILA Annual Conference; William A. Stock Elected as 70th National President of AILA

William A. Stock, H. Ronald Klasko, and Elise A. Fialkowski, partners of Klasko Immigration Law Partners LLP, participated at the American Immigration Lawyers Association’s (AILA) Annual Meeting. At the Conference, Mr. Stock was installed as AILA’s 70th National President. His installation speech at the opening plenary session highlighted the American success stories of immigrant Nobel prize winners and cancer researchers who achieved that success because they were welcomed to America as child refugees and undocumented immigrants. Mr. Stock also presented as a panelist on the Conference’s first substantive educational panel, “Hot Topics with the AILA Executive Committee,” after the keynote.

H. Ronald Klasko served as discussion leader for the session “Advanced Issues in EB-5 Investment Practice,” which examined the special factors and pitfalls that arise when representing EB-5 investors. Mr. Klasko also spoke at the AILA Global Migration Section Conference on June 21 in advance of the annual conference.

Elise A. Fialkowski was a speaker for the session “Creative Strategies for Dependents,” and examined different options available to assist foreign national employees and their dependents in selecting and strategically utilizing visa categories that help to achieve personal and family goals in the United States.

Mr. Stock has practiced immigration law exclusively for over 20 years and is President of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. He has been listed in Best Lawyers in America every year since 2004 and Chambers Global: The World’s Leading Lawyers for Business every year since 2006. His clients include small businesses, medium sized companies, and multinational corporations and their employees; hospitals, institutions of higher education and scientific research centers; as well as investors and other individual clients. Bill is a coauthor of the "J Visa Guidebook" from Lexis Publishing along with numerous immigration law articles. A summa cum laude graduate of the University of St. Thomas (St. Paul, MN), (B.A.1990), he received his law degree from the University of Minnesota (J.D., magna cum laude, 1993).

A former National President of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), Mr. Klasko served as General Counsel of that organization for three Presidents and has been a member of its Board of Governors since 1980. He has served as National Chair of AILA’s U.S. Department of Labor Liaison Committee and Business Immigration Committee, and he served as National Chair of that organization’s INS General Counsel Liaison Committee and the National Task Forces on Labor Certifications, H-1 visas, L-1 visas and Employer Sanctions. He presently chairs AILA’s EB-5 Committee, and is serving his fifth term in that capacity. Mr. Klasko is one of only three practicing lawyers ever honored with the AILA Founders Award for his contributions to immigration jurisprudence. A graduate of Lehigh University (B.A. 1971), he received his law degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School (J.D. 1974).

Ms. Fialkowski has practiced immigration law for over twenty years and handles all aspects of employment based immigration. Her clients run the gamut from multinational corporations and their employees to universities and private individuals. In addition to employment-based immigration work, Ms. Fialkowski has particular experience in worksite enforcement and leads the worksite compliance group at the firm. She regularly counsels clients regarding I-9 compliance, E-Verify and H-1B Labor Condition Application (LCA) compliance. Prior to joining the Firm, Ms. Fialkowski's practice also included advising employers in traditional employment and labor law matters, including litigation as well as advice regarding proactive action to avoid and minimize claims. With her immigration clients, she has provided counseling, training and policy development services to employers in a diversity of industries including, for example, pharmaceutical, university, food and beverage, manufacturing, healthcare and continuing care retirement communities. Ms. Fialkowski has long been active in the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and currently serves as the Co-Chair of AILA’s Global Migration Section Conference Committee and on the USCIS Philadelphia Liaison Committee. She has served on the Executive Committee of AILA’s Philadelphia Chapter and on many other committees at the local and national level, including the E-Verify Liaison Committee. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (B.A. 1987), Ms. Fialkowski received her law degree from the Villanova University School of Law (J.D., magna cum laude, 1991).
