Renowned construction management firm to lead implementation of renovations for the iconic Bell Works building

Somerset Development today announced that Structure Tone, Inc., a leading-edge global construction management company, will oversee construction plans, renovations and subcontractor management at Bell Works, the complete revitalization of the former Bell Labs into the iconic mixed-use metroburb, located in Holmdel, N.J.

As the lead contractor for Bell Works, Structure Tone will assume management of all ongoing construction projects in the two-million-square-foot building. Immediate renovations include the implementation of a new safety infrastructure in place throughout the massive two-million foot building along with a skylight replacement initiative, which will implement photovoltaic panels that will convert solar energy into electricity, notably reducing Bell Works’ environmental footprint while maximizing the building’s overall energy efficiency.

“It’s an honor to have been chosen as the lead construction manager for Bell Works”, said Erik Sletteland, Vice President Structure Tone New Jersey. “To work on the preservation and revitalization of such an iconic and storied property is truly a rare opportunity. We are excited to participate in bringing Somerset Development’s vision to life.”

Structure Tone is known for successfully managing large-scale landmark initiatives within the northeast region including the construction of Rutgers’ new business school, geothermal field and solar farm; the interior fit-out of Prudential’s 20-story headquarters in downtown Newark, N.J; and renovations to the Met Life Clock Tower, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, and the Macy’s flagship store located in New York City. As part of a global network of construction professionals, Structure Tone has access to expansive resources, making it the ideal partner for the redevelopment of the massive Bell Works complex.

“After entering leases with nine tenants this year alone, Bell Works is at a critical point in its redevelopment”, said Somerset Development President Ralph Zucker. “We chose Structure Tone because they shared in our vision for creating a true Metroburb here in Holmdel, where the built environment both captures and inspires the vitality of its tenants and visitors.”

Structure Tone joins the Bell Works team on the heels of accelerated leasing momentum, including its largest executed lease to date with anchor commercial tenant iCIMS, a leading provider of innovative Software-as-a-service (SaaS) talent acquisition solutions that enables growing organizations to manage the process of attracting, screening and hiring talent.

Situated along Crawfords Corner Road, Bell Works is approximately one mile from Exit 114 of the Garden State Parkway. Its central New Jersey location provides easy access to points north and south.
