New Jersey Chapter of the American Institute of Architects Installs Kimberly Bunn as 2016 Past President

Moorestown, N.J. Resident is Owner and Principal of Bunn Architecture

The New Jersey chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA-NJ) announced that Kimberly Bunn, AIA, will serve as the organization’s past president. The Moorestown resident was installed during AIA-NJ’s annual awards gala in Florham Park.

Bunn serves as the ownerand principal of Moorestown-based Bunn Architecture, a full-service architectural firm noted for its residential projects. Bunn, whose specialties included historic renovations and incorporating environmental principles into her projects, has been a member of AIA for over 17 years, and has served in a leadership capacity for more than a decade. At the state level, Bunn also currently sits on AIA-NJ’s Board of Trustees and chairs its Communications Committee, and has previously served as first and second vice president, president-elect and president. At the local level, Bunn is a past president and current Trustee of AIA-West Jersey, one of AIA-NJ’s six local sections.

In addition to her work and her leadership roles in AIA-NJ, Bunn is very active in the Moorestown community, sitting on the board of a number of local non-profits, and serving as a trustee for the Moorestown Improvement Association (MIA), an organization dedicated to preserving and enhancing the quality of life in Moorestown. Combining her interests in architecture and historic preservation, she has developed and continues to lead the MIA’s bi-annual historic walking tours. In 2014, Bunn released Moorestown, which celebrates the structures and people of the historic city.

“Through advocacy, public awareness and professional development initiatives, AIA-NJ aims to create an ideal environment for inspired architecture in the state of New Jersey,” said Bunn. “Our organization has been at the forefront of addressing many of the state’s most pressing issues, notably the continued recovery from Hurricane Sandy. I’m proud to maintain my affiliation with AIA-NJ and to continue to improve the practice and stature of architecture in the Garden State.”

Other officers that were installed at the gala were Justin Mihalik, AIA, as president; Ben Lee, AIA, as president elect; Verity Frizzell, AIA, as first vice president; Judith Donnelly, AIA, as second vice president; John Cwikla, AIA, as secretary; and Brandon Warshofsky, Assoc. AIA, as regional associate director. Steven Lazarus, AIA, continues as treasurer and Robert Cozzarelli, AIA, continues as regional representative.
