PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Family Business Magazine is pleased to announce the appointment of Amy Cosper as its editor-in-chief. Barbara Spector, the outgoing editor-in-chief, is semi-retiring and transitioning to the new role of editor-at-large for MLR Media, the parent company of Family Business Magazine.

For over 30 years, family business leaders and owners have relied on Family Business as an information resource to help them improve their family dynamics and their businesses. Through digital platforms, magazines, and events, MLR Media provides public and private company directors, leaders and owners of multigenerational family businesses, and C-suite executives with the knowledge and skills to be successful in their roles.

Amy Cosper is former vice president and editor-in-chief of Entrepreneur Media Inc., where she ran the strategic and daily operations of Entrepreneur magazine and its website. During her tenure, she improved the publication’s editorial content, created new editorial partnerships, and sharpened the focus of the company’s overall mission.

Most recently, Cosper has been a frequent speaker on entrepreneurship in Europe and was named by Fast Company as one of its “50 Smartest Women to Follow on Twitter.” Previously, she served as WiesnerMedia's entrepreneur in residence, where she sought out and evaluated new business plans, ventures and partnerships to assist in diversifying the company's portfolio.

“We are very excited to welcome Amy to our team, which will help to advance the success of family-owned companies,” said Bill Rock, president of MLR Media. “Her entrepreneurial background and her journalistic expertise fit well with where we, and the family business community, are heading.”

Cosper first entered the entrepreneurial trenches with her own media consulting business. Her journalism roots, however, began in the tech world, as a reporter on assignment in several countries across the globe. Cosper later became publisher and editor-in-chief of Satellite Broadband magazine at Primedia, and then went on to redesign and direct five ASBPE award-winning financial magazines at WiesnerMedia.

Spector, who has served with great impact and influence as editor-in-chief of Family Business for more than 20 years, has worked to ensure a seamless transition. “Given what I’ve learned about succession, I know how important it is to be proactive in planning,” she commented. “I’m stepping back, but I’m not stepping away.”
