Hyland Levin Shapiro LLP is pleased to announce that partner, David R. Dahan was elected to serve his second 3-year term on the Board of Directors and was appointed to serve as Treasurer for the Community Associations Institute (Pennsylvania and Delaware Valley Chapter). As Treasurer, David will serve on the Executive Committee. The Community Associations Institute is a national organization dedicated to providing the education and resources necessary to foster vibrant, responsive and competent community associations and helping them promote harmony and responsible leadership.

A significant part of David’s practice includes representing condominium and homeowner associations. He provides counseling on all aspects of association matters including day-to-day business and legal issues, transition from the developer, and, if necessary, litigation. David provides a full range of legal advice and services involving drafting, negotiating and enforcing all governing documents, association service contracts, rules and regulations, developer transition, construction defect litigation, municipal services and relations, regulatory compliance, insurance claims, member disputes, restrictive covenant interpretation and fiduciary duties of board members. David has handled numerous transition matters to successful conclusion.

David’s practice also includes commercial litigation. He represents all types of business and non-profit entities in an array of matters, including unfair competition, trademark infringement, violation of non-competition, non-disclosure and non-solicitation agreements, fraud, breach of contract, real estate construction, shareholder disputes and business divorces.

David is admitted to practice in state and federal courts in New Jersey and Pennsylvania and the U.S. Supreme Court. He is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association and Pennsylvania Bar Association. Additionally, David is the liaison for the New Jersey Regional Counsel of the Community Associations Institute (Pennsylvania and Delaware Valley Chapter) and a member of the American Bar Association. He is a graduate of Temple University Beasley School of Law (J.D., 1997) and Temple University, Philadelphia (BBA, Concentration in Accounting, 1991).
