Stradley Ronon Partner Roger Wise has been appointed chair of the American Bar Association Section of Taxation’s Committee on Investment Management for a two-year term starting July 1. In this role, Wise will supervise and coordinate all committee activities. The committee is responsible for monitoring, reporting, and commenting on developments affecting the federal and state taxation of investment funds (including regulated investment companies and private funds) and their investors. The committee may also address special tax issues affecting investment advisers or managers of these vehicles.

Wise counsels clients on tax issues affecting the investment management and financial services industries. His experience includes structuring open-end and closed-end mutual funds, hedge funds, real estate funds (including REITs) and private equity funds, insurance products and financial transactions. Wise advises clients on qualification issues for registered investment companies (RICs) and on the tax consequences of swaps and other derivative instruments, information reporting requirements and penalties, and in-kind redemptions by ETFs.
