
James P. Thomas
S. T. Hudson Engineers, Inc. (Hudson), a leader in multi-discipline engineering and consulting for Marine Facilities, announced that it has appointed James P. Thomas as vice president and chief operating officer effective September 30, 2016. Richard A. Long, Hudson’s current Vice President and C.O.O., will continue to serve as executive vice president.
“As we move into our 50th year, Jim will become the fifth person to take control of the helm as Chief Operating Officer,” said President and Chief Executive Officer, Robert S. Hudson, P.E. “We are excited for the next chapter and know that Jim is the right person for the job.”
Mr. Thomas has been with Hudson for more than nine years as a vice president, proving himself as a committed company advocate as well as a key member of Hudson’s executive management team.
He came to Hudson in 2007 from Bean/Stuyvesant dredging company. He has more than 33 years of experience in all aspects of marine construction and dredging and has worked throughout the United States as well as international locations. Previous employers include American Dredging Company and Weeks Marine, both of New Jersey. His energy and enthusiasm has led to successful projects and stronger relationships with our clients.
Mr. Thomas noted, “Hudson is a venerable company with a long history of providing quality marine engineering and field services. The company has thrived under Rich’s leadership and I realize I have very big shoes to fill to replace his steady professional stewardship.”
Most recently, Mr. Thomas has been responsible for managing Hudson’s onsite work at Sunoco Logistics’ Marcus Hook, Pennsylvania industrial complex. Hudson has provided a myriad of services to support Sunoco’s Mariner East projects I and II. Hudson’s scope of work has included multi-discipline engineering services and turnkey construction executions.
Mr. Long will remain actively involved in the company as executive vice president. He will continue to assist the company with long-term strategy, special projects and customer engagement. He has served as Hudson’s C.O.O. for 20 years.
