PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Veteran managed care actuary and executive health care leader Mark Cary has returned to Health Partners Plans (HPP) as senior vice president of Medicare Sales and Actuarial Services, reporting to President and Chief Executive Officer William S. George. In this role, Mr. Cary will oversee Medicare Sales and Actuarial Services and work with executive leadership to integrate business development opportunities and develop strategic initiatives to achieve revenue, retention and margin growth for Health Partners Plans’ Medicare product line.

As HPP’s first chief actuary for Medicaid and Medicare, Mr. Cary worked at the company from 2001 to 2006 as director before becoming vice president. In this role, he identified cost-saving opportunities for the company and led several strategic corporate initiatives resulting in millions of dollars in annual savings without compromising quality.

With more than 30 years of experience in the health care industry, Mr. Cary has a proven track record of excellence in meeting or exceeding business goals and customer service in both the consulting and corporate environments. Most recently, Mr. Cary worked to align sales strategies, culture and processes for Optum where he held the position of vice president and practice leader for the Medicare Actuarial Practice. Prior to that, Mr. Cary was instrumental in the development of Medicare Advantage product and pricing strategy (including dual-eligible special needs) for several companies, including InnovaCare Health and Independence Blue Cross.

Mr. Cary received his bachelor of science in mathematics from Villanova University. He resides in Philadelphia with his partner Connie Keith and two children.
