Emily Sudermann
RADNOR, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Lincoln Financial Group is pleased to announce that Emily Sudermann, assistant vice president of Claims and Beneficiary Care, has been elected president of the International Claim Association (ICA). With over 20 years of experience, Sudermann is a seasoned leader who will help shape the strategy for the largest organization of claims professionals in the life and health insurance industry.
“Emily has been an integral part of the ICA for many years, having served the organization in a number of different capacities,” said Chris Murphy, executive director of the ICA. “Her results-oriented approach and ability to think strategically will serve ICA well over the next year. We welcome her experience and leadership as president.”
In addition to shaping the association’s strategy and managing its budget, Sudermann will chair the Finance Committee, serve as an ex officio member of each of the organization’s committees, with the exception of the Nominating Committee, and immediately begin planning the 2017 Annual Education Conference in San Diego, Calif.
“The depth and breadth of Emily’s expertise make her an ideal choice to lead the ICA as its next president,” said Carolyn McGovern, vice president of Claims and Beneficiary Care for Lincoln Financial. “Additionally, she brings passion and dedication to the organization, which will enable her to serve its member community well. We are extremely proud of Emily’s hard work and leadership, including this latest achievement.”
Sudermann began her career with Jefferson Pilot in 1997 as an attorney in the Legal Department. She held a variety of positions with the legal departments for Jefferson Pilot and Lincoln Financial before moving to the business side of the company in late 2013. In August 2014, she joined the Claims Department, where she currently manages the Life Claims operation.
Sudermann’s involvement with the ICA began in 1999. She attended the Annual Education Conference twice before she was approached to join the Law Committee. Sudermann went on to chair that committee for three years before being elected to the organization’s Executive Committee, which she ultimately chaired during 2014-15. As president-elect, Sudermann also facilitated the ICA’s 2016 strategic planning session.
Sudermann will serve a one-year term as president of the ICA, which began following the Annual Business Meeting held on October 17 in Orlando, Fla. The meeting was held in conjunction with the group’s 2016 Annual Education Conference, which had over 500 attendees representing life, accident, health/medical, disability, workers’ compensation, and fraud claims professionals.
Lincoln Financial is also represented by employees from its Legal Department, Claim Financial Controls and Annuity Claims, who sit on various ICA committees.
