The National Museum of American Jewish History (NMAJH) announces the election of two new members to its Board of Trustees: Elaine L. Lindy and Sherrie R. Savett. The Board is committed to supporting the Museum’s mission and ensuring the institution has a lasting impact for future generations—for all Americans and for all people who appreciate freedom and liberty.

Ivy Barsky, the Museum’s CEO and Gwen Goodman Director, said, “We are thrilled to welcome Sherrie and Elaine to our Board. Their expertise, time, and energy are an invaluable addition to the Museum, and we are honored to have their enthusiastic support of our mission. Both Sherrie and Elaine are thought leaders with important and unique spheres of influence.”

Elaine L. Lindy works at Lindy Property management, alongside her brothers. She is also deeply involved in children’s literature and education. Elaine founded Whootie Owl International, LLC, a Massachusetts-based company founded in 1998 providing ethical and entertaining folk literature for children. She holds three United States Patents for juvenile product innovations. Previously, Lindy produced a cable television show featuring fairytales and folk tales. Elaine Lindy is the child of the late Philip B. Lindy and the late Annabel (Rusty) Lindy. Elaine is a board member of the Gershman Y; the Treasurer for Last Call Foundation and is a Benefactor for Drexel University.

Sherrie R. Savett is a managing shareholder at the law firm of Berger & Montague, P.C. and a chair of their Securities Litigation and False Claim Act/Whistleblower/Qui Tam Practices. She is an active commercial litigator who has been selected as a “Super Lawyer” by Philadelphia Magazine for more than a decade. Her accomplishments in the law have been highlighted in the National Law Journal where her firm has been repeatedly selected to its “Hot List,” a selection of top plaintiffs’ side law firms who have been involved in groundbreaking victories and have a deep history of accomplishment. Sherrie is the immediate past President of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia (JFGP), having served a 3-year term from 2011-2014. She is currently a Member of the Board of Directors and Trustees of JFGP. Nationally, she has served on the Executive Committee of the Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA) and she currently serves on JFNA’s Board of Trustees. She also serves on the Board of the American Associates, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev Mid-Atlantic Region and Philadelphia Chapter. She was formerly General Co-Chair of State of Israel Bonds for this region and Vice President of the Board of Directors of the National Liberty Museum, where she still serves on its Board. She received her B.A. (Summa Cum Laude) and J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. In her spare time, she enjoys tennis, biking, travel, collecting art, and, first and foremost, spending time with her children and grandchildren.
