FORT WASHINGTON, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nutrisystem, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTRI), a leading provider of weight loss management products and services, announced today that it has awarded scholarships to Girl Talk’s (mygirltalk.org) National Leaders of the Year, the organization’s highest and most prestigious award. Girl Talk is an international, non-profit, peer-to-peer mentoring program focused on helping teens build confidence and develop leadership skills. Nutrisystem announced its partnership with Girl Talk last August when the Company launched its #NowBelieveIt campaign.
The recipients, Natalie Cox and Mikayla Keen, are co-leaders of their Girl Talk Chapter in Fort Branch, Indiana, and best exemplify the mission and values of Girl Talk and its founder, Haley Kilpatrick. The scholarships they received will be used toward their college careers. Natalie will be attending Indiana University Bloomington in Bloomington, Indiana, and Mikayla will be attending Vincennes University in Vincennes, Indiana.
“We find that once a girl suffers with low self-esteem, it manifests itself into adulthood and we want to really break that cycle,” said Dawn Zier, CEO at Nutrisystem. “It is our honor to present Natalie and Mikayla with scholarships as each is a proven leader in her community helping other young women deal with the issues they face and gain more self-confidence. Through our continued partnership with Girl Talk, we hope to inspire a generation of young girls and women to be the best versions of themselves they can be.”
“Natalie and Mikayla have gone above and beyond the call of duty as Girl Talk Leaders. We are truly honored to know that such outstanding girls are starting and leading Girl Talk Chapters to help instill confidence in the lives of their middle school peers,” said Haley Kilpatrick, Founder of Girl Talk. “I am confident that their story will inspire other high school girls all over the country to start their own Girl Talk Chapters in their communities.”
Natalie and Mikayla’s photos and biographies will be displayed on the Girl Talk website for the next year.
#NowBelieveIt is a social empowerment campaign that highlights the positive power that compliments play in the lives of women and young girls. You can watch the #NowBelieveIt video at Nutrisystem’s The Leaf.
