Yarde Metals stood out for its exceptionally open, dimensional feel in a relatively small space,” the judges reported

Tops among 220-plus exhibitors noted for successful use of color, technology, lighting and space

Among the 220-plus exhibitors spread over 4,000 square meters of space in the U.S International Pavilion at last month’s Farnborough International Airshow (July 11-17), two stands were selected “Best in Show” by an independent panel of judges asked by Pavilion organizers Kallman Worldwide to simply “find the best.”

The Best in Show award is an annual honor presented by Kallman at the biennial Farnborough and Paris air shows to recognize innovation and creativity in trade show exhibit design and presentation. The company presents two awards at each show, one for stands larger than 36 sqm, and one for stands smaller than 36 sqm.

“Made in Alabama’s stand stood out for its genuine stopping power,” said Tom Kallman, president and CEO of Kallman Worldwide, Inc., organizer of the U.S. International Pavilion.

This year’s winning stand over 36 sqm was presented by Made in Alabama (Booth 2/A78). Yarde Metals (Booth 2/A49) presented the winning stand under 36 sqm. Judges recognized each exhibitor for their respective use of color and texture, technology, open space and lighting to attract and engage trade visitors.

The Made in Alabama stand was distinctive for its 60 sqm stage-like platform and bold red, black and white color palette. Featuring free-standing seating areas, a central glass-fronted meeting room – all white on the inside with floor-to-ceiling red and black images and white text on the exterior side walls — and flanked on the platform corners by tall, slatted semi-arches, the stand simultaneously presented 360-degree open access and modular structure.

“Made in Alabama’s stand stood out for its genuine stopping power,” said Tom Kallman, president and CEO of Kallman Worldwide, Inc., organizer of the Pavilion. “The integration of bold graphics and a clear marketing message in an open and inviting large-scale space were undeniable. If you got anywhere near it, you noticed, and probably looked to learn more.”

Yarde Metals’13.5 sqm stand employed offset panels, discreet accent lighting, large format graphics and a minimal grey, black and white color palette punctuated with metal accents and company logos to create a space that judges said, “seemed bigger than it was.”

“Yarde Metals stood out for its exceptionally open, dimensional feel in a relatively small space,” the judges reported. They noted the stand also benefited from its corner location adjacent to a large open staircase area between two exhibit halls, which added to the perception of openness.

“This year’s Best in Show winners exemplify how form and function work together to create exciting, successful trade show stands,” said Ann Kallman, director of Kallman Creative Services, the company’s custom-building arm and designer of this year’s winning stands. “No matter how busy they are, professionals looking for business solutions at a trade show will always stop and take a second look at an attractive, accessible exhibit.”
