PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Greg Spurlock, President of Alliance Oncology, announced today that Luther W. Brady M.D., Director of Medical Research at The CyberKnife Center of Philadelphia, is being awarded his seventh honorary degree from Complutense University in Madrid, Spain.
Complutense University, the largest university in Spain, will make this award of an honorary Doctorate of Science degree to Dr. Brady during a special ceremony at the university. He was recommended for the honor by Prof. Dr. Felipe A. Calvo, Hospital Vice-Dean of the Medical School and Chair-Professor at Complutense University.
Dr. Brady said, “I am very pleased to receive this honorary degree from Complutense University. It always represents a humbling but rewarding experience when you are recognized for the work that you have done.”
This will be Dr. Brady’s seventh honorary degree. His six previous degrees are a Doctor of Fine Arts from Colgate University in 1988, Doctor of Science from Lehigh University in 1990, Doctor of Medicine from Toyama Medical and Pharmaceutical University in 1996, Doctor of Medicine from the University of Heidelberg in 1997, Doctor of Fine Arts from George Washington University in May 2004, and a Doctor of Fine Arts from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in May 2009.
Dr. Brady is the founder of The CyberKnife Center of Philadelphia and one of the most distinguished pioneers in the field of radiation oncology. He is recognized as one of the world's foremost experts on cancer treatment and has published more than 800 papers in peer review journals and led numerous clinical trials. Virtually every radiation oncologist in the world is familiar with his text books and the Encyclopedia of Radiation Oncology (Brady-Yaeger Eds.). He has received over thirty medals for his contributions in medicine and has served as president of every major radiation oncology professional society.
Dr. Brady was born in North Carolina and received his undergraduate and medical degrees at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He received post-graduate training in radiology and radiation oncology at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Bethesda, and in Philadelphia at Thomas Jefferson Medical College and the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He has had appointments at the Harvard Medical School, The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University, but has spent the majority of his career in Philadelphia first at the University of Pennsylvania, and since 1959, at Hahnemann University Hospital, now Drexel University.
